Sorrento is rich in nature, traditions and social events so it is a tourist destination 365 days a year. The best way to see it is a leisurely walk among shopping streets in the historical centers, through alleys filled with local shops, maybe stopping to taste a glass of limoncello or sitting down on a bench overlooking the Sorrento sea at the Villa Comunale.
Once a year, artists coming from all over the world, meet in Sorrento for the Cinema Festival. Together with other events, it makes Sorrento the most popular destination in the Sorrento Peninsula.
Worth noting, among other events taking place during the Holy Week, the suggestive and secular processions on Good Friday held by the local fraternities is a tremendous cultural and religious experience.
Christmas events and the summer concerts taking place in the main square are also particularly awe inspiring. The food culture is no exception: limoncello, Provolone del Monaco DOP cheese, mozzarella cheese and cold cuts make the area a real paradise for gourmets.
