Anacapri is less popular and quieter than the neighboring Capri. It is located on the plateau of the island in one of the most scenic spots in Italy.
The most famous building is Villa San Michele, built by the Swedish writer and Doctor Axel Munthe, as his residence adapting an old convent dedicated to San Michele.
Today it is one of the most popular destinations with its beautiful garden. Not far there is the San Michele Church (18th century).
Other attractions are the Blue Grotto, famous already in the 19th century, the Belvedere della Migliara, and the Casa Rossa with its Easter Moorish architectural style, Le Boffe, the fortresses, the Phoenician Steps, a stone stairway built by Phoenicians to connect the hills to the harbor.
Visit also the Solaro Mount, the Philosophical Park, Punta Carena with its lighthouse and Villa Damecuta.
