The origins of Sant'Agnello are similar to the ones of the other towns in the Sorrento Peninsula: about two centuries before the foundation of Rome. Originally inhabited by the Etruscans, Phoenicians and also the Samnites, this small town is characterized by quiet streets and beautiful landscape.
Make sure to visit the Marinella panoramic terrace, from which you can enjoy a full view on the Coast. On one side you can see Sorrento, then Naples and on the other side the Nicolini Villa, an eighteenth century mansion overlooking the cliffs.
From Marinella you can reach the Marinella beach, walking down along an ancient Roman path built in stone. Visit also the historical centers of Angri and Cappuccini, where 18th-century doors, porphyry alleys and century-old trees witness the past centuries.
There are many country festivals in town: in autumn there is the one held by the Maiano neighborhood with the participation of many artists showing their works, folk singers and the opportunity to taste local products. It is truly an excellent mix of art and traditions.
